MERRILL LYNCH BANK (SUISSE) S.A. APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

Geneva, 27 May 2008 - Merrill Lynch Bank (Suisse) S.A. (MLB(S)) today announced the appointment of Pascal Bachy as Head of Portfolio Management. Based in Geneva, Mr. Bachy will report to Patrizio Merciai, Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management Switzerland, and be responsible for expanding the investment capabilities of the Portfolio Management Group. Mr. Bachy has 16 years experience in the private banking sector. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he was a team leader and private banker in the private client asset management business at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie. He was also a member of the investment committee and Head of Portfolio Management for the firm's Japanese operations. Mr. Bachy started his career as an equity analyst and institutional portfolio manager focusing on the Swiss market. Following this, he was the leading relationship manager for French and Belgian clients at Credit Suisse Group in Geneva. Patrizio Merciai commented: "We are delighted to welcome Pascal to our team.
