Alternative Investments
Alternative Investments are investment vehicles designed to offer positive absolute returns with low correlation to global equity and fixed income
markets. The risk/return characteristics are therefore quite different to "traditional" investments. The two most common
types of Alternative Investment are:
Hedge Funds
transact in a variety of financial instruments such as equity, fixed income,
foreign exchange, commodities, futures, derivatives
may take long and short positions and use a certain degree of leverage
Private Equity
investments in non-public companies in different phases of the company life-cycle
search for attractive placements in early stage companies and accompany
them through their growth and expansion phases
